growth hormone therapy can help children achieve maximum adult height

Children with short stature who have been diagnosed with a growth hormone-related disorder may receive growth hormone therapy to achieve improved adult height. Delays in diagnosis and initiation of growth hormone therapy may result in compromised adult height.1 To attain maximum adult height, it is essential that children with growth hormone-related disorders be identified early and referred to a pediatric endocrinologist.

Pediatric growth hormone therapy

In pediatric patients with growth hormone-related disorders, the frequent treatment goal is to achieve full adult height. Potential treatment should be considered until final adult height is reached or there is no longer a clinical response.2 For pediatric GHD patients, therapy should be considered during the transition period from childhood to adulthood.
